An image button to run the spell check was added to the form template in SharePoint (so the spell check will display for all InfoPath forms). The eventual solution we implemented used a call to the spell check feature from SharePoint. The solution put in place at our location pulled concepts from a number of sources (see References). There are several third-part solutions for providing spell check on Internet Explorer browsers ( ieSpell and Speckie are two), but the expense for the number of users and relative use of the feature made third-party solutions less than feasible. While the simple solution may be to use an alternative browser, at our location an Internet Explorer spell check solution for InfoPath web-based forms was mandated.
While other browsers, such as Firefox and Google Chrome, offer spell check features with forms used in their browsers, Internet Explorer fails to provide such a solution. However, one of the key integrations between the Microsoft products of SharePoint (2010), InfoPath (2010), and Internet Explorer (9) is the lack of spell checking for web based forms. Internet Explorer is the recommended browser for use with SharePoint, according to Microsoft. Request: Provide users a way to spell check when filling out InfoPath forms in Internet Explorer.
